Physical Therapy Update

Well, it's been one year since my last back surgery. And while there is no spectacular report of progress, I can honestly say I'm gaining ground. Thanks to the Lord and two of His choice servants (Ken and Diane Hood), I'm improving and definitely moving in the right direction.

Ken and Diane work at The River Fitness Center with Body Mechanics Athletics. They do an amazing job and are extremely gifted people.

Below is a little info from their website. You can find out more detail at www.bmax.us.

Body Mechanix Athletics began in January 1993, offering Massage Therapy to various athletes, teams and area businesses. The business expanded in May 1994 to offer group training programs for athletes, and then the first Body Mechanix Duathlon to benefit local charitable organizations. The one-time event grew in 1997 to a Tuesday evening 5-race Body Mechanix Duathlon Series. Ken and Diane Hood combine their knowledge, education and experience in the fields of athletics, business and therapeutic modalities, to offer a unique mix of services. They focus on injury prevention/treatment for athletes and active people. They offer training programs for multi-sport athletes of all levels of ability. They provide Wellness Programs and Consulting for area businesses and individuals. Diane began the business in 1993, offering Massage Therapy to area businesses and athletes. As a competitive collegiate runner, her inner drive and determination caused many over-use injuries to occur, therefore she was exposed to various ways to handle these injuries. A Right foot injury (Plantar Fasciitis) that eventually required surgery caused her to be red-shirted her freshman/sophomore year in college. When the same injury began in her Left foot after college, she was introduced to unique soft-tissue techniques to stop the progression, making surgery a non-requirement for healing. Being introduced to this method of treating injuries became the catalyst for Diane pursuing the field of Massage Therapy.

Finishing Strong

1 Kings 11 is an amazing story of disappointment. Solomon had an amazing beginning to his life, but it's not so much how you start, but how you finish that counts.

Just flew back from Dallas where Casey and I met with my doctor for a follow up. Progress as promised!

First Night Back

Tonight was my first night back at Realife. I was overwhelmed by the "Welcome Back". I can't believe that God allows Casey and me to serve such an amazing group of students and leaders!

I Was Wrong

I prematurely declared victory last Monday. I thought I had beaten my little sister in fantasy football so I started bragging a little bit. Now my verses for the day are Proverbs 16.18 and James 4.13-14.

Predicting The Future

Yeah, I did pretty much dominate my little sister last weekend in Fantasy Football. I'd like to say it was skill, but the truth is that her quarterback got hurt and I just got lucky.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could predict how your day was going to go? Or if you possessed some ability to see into the future? Maybe or maybe not.

The good news is that God knows what you're going to face today (and tomorrow) and He has it all under control. So we don't have to have it all figure out, we simply have to stay close to Him and follow His voice. He will lead you to victory every time!

Here are a few scriptures God gave us for tips at winning in fantasy football and for living victoriously in life.

Proverbs 3.1-6 James 4.13-17 Matthew 6.33-34

Oh yeah, here's one more. I may be talking on this one next week - Proverbs 16.18

God Loves To Bless You

If you look closely - and I do mean closely - you can see I'm growing a beard...at least for a couple of more days.

One Day at a Time

Despite what Casey says about how much weight I've lost since surgery, this isn't a picture of me. It's actually a picture I shot right outside my doctor's office the day before my operation. I think it was meant to describe how I would feel during week 2 of recovery! :)

Furthermore, I think David must have had a similar type procedure based on what he wrote in Psalm 6.2-3 "O Lord, heal me, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in anguish. How long, O Lord, how long?" I've only said that same prayer about 10 times myself (every hour). And David didn't even have Hydrocodone to help him!!!

I not only relate to David's pain in chapter 6, I also connect with his peace in Psalm 3.5 - "I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me".

Isn't that true? About the time you feel like you can't go on or you can't take it anymore God steps in and provides the rest you need or the strength to sustain you. He doesn't promise that you will never struggle...or even that your difficulties will only last one hour or one day. He simply wants you to trust Him to help you...even when (or especially when) times are hardest.

So you can lie down and rest knowing He is with you. Tomorrow is a new day. He will sustain you. Just take it one day at a time.

God's Promises

This video is a fun reminder from Bria (our 2yr old) of God's wonderful promises.

You can stand on God's promises...they are true! 100% of them 100% of the time. Why don't you consider going through each day with a specific promise from God's Word? Especially if you're facing something that is difficult, confusing, or trying. Read the Bible and find out what God has to say about that issue. Then meditate on it, wrap your arms around it and face your day with the peace provided by His wonderful promise!
