The Bird Has Left the Building

Candice left the back door open and a bird just flew in the house. Seconds later Monty walked in the front door and started chasing the bird while I grabbed the camera.

I wanted to capture Monty capturing the uninvited guest. Unfortunately, he was too swift in his success.

Michael Jr

Realife was...well, hilarious tonight. Michael Jr. is a Christian Comedian who has been on a number of national television programs including Jay Leno and others. There's no doubt that the guy is stinkin' funny, but he is also a rock solid Christ follower. After we laughed our heads off for about 45mnts, it was cool to see him turn a corner and share the gospel, and then to watch teenagers commit their hearts to Christ.

This is definitely a case where a guy is using his gifts to honor God. You can find clips of him on Youtube, or better yet you can buy some of his product at MichaelJr.com.

Ozark vs. Nixa

Tonight's Ozark vs. Nixa basketball game may have just been the best high school game I've ever seen on the hardwood. Pay attention to the clips with the scoreboard. It was a great game and came down to the wire...the classic buzzer-beater.

I'm especially proud of all the players (from both teams) who attend Realife. I got a chance to catch up with two of my boys after the game. Congratulations to Billy Dulin (and Nixa) on the win. And I couldn't be more proud of Isaiah Monroe's (from Ozark) effort...he played an amazing game. I can't wait to see how God uses both of these guys to win spiritual victories for eternity.

Plane Ride to Texas

Adam and I are in TX for a few days. We've had a great time visiting with Justin Lathrop from The Oaks, and Keith Morrison from Gateway Church. It's great catching up with friends who are passionate about ministry.

This video captures our plane ride from MO. Bill Perkin was kind enough to fly us in his plane. That's always an adventure!

Snow Man

I'm definitely from the south. That has never been more apparent than when I tried to build a snowman the other day. My daughters asked me to do it, and it sounded like a good idea to me. So I gave it a whirl. Man...it seems like it would be so much easier!!!

Have you ever been in a situation where you knew you were doing something wrong, but you didn't know what it was? As it turns out, I had a couple of "Yankee" friends tell me that the problem was with the snow - It wasn't wet enough. Who knew? So, don't be too critical of my handiwork. I can't wait to try it again next snow!

Happy Birthday Jesus

Flash Player needed to view this VideoBlog.

It always amazes me that the celebration of the birth of Christ could be reduced to people on earth swapping gifts with one another. I don't think God minds us exchanging gifts, it's just strikes me funny that we can become so easily distracted by the materialism.

Picture celebrating your own birthday. Friends and family plan and prepare for the big night. People talk about it and anticipate the fun night. Everyone shows up...gifts in hand. And all of the sudden they starting swapping gifts with one another and you're standing there silently watching the whole thing. Call me crazy...just seems weird.

Tonight, we are throwing Jesus' a birthday party. What do you give Him. Obviously your life is a good place to start. So we will take some time just to reaffirm our love for Him and commitment to Him. We will also reflect on His gift of life to us and take time to say thanks. For the grand finale we will receive our final offering for the missions drive. We figured He would probably love it if we did everything possible to tell more people about the gift He's already provided for us. It should be fun.

So, to help put us in the mood for the big event here's Kelly Grace singing happy birthday, Jesus!

JRA Staff Christmas Party

Today the James River Staff got together for a "Cowboy Christmas" party. We had a blast! I will try to post a few of the highlights over the next several days...you will enjoy them. We had competitions in different categories like Karaoke, Bull Riding (Seriously...well kind of), best dessert, and more.

It was a great time. I'm really blessed to be a part of such an amazing team. These friends really love God, and work extremely hard to share His love with this world. Days like today are nice to just be together and have some fun. As you'll see in the videos, we did just that!

This first video is Chris Parsons winning the Bull Riding Contest. It's a lot harder than it looks!

This past Friday night we had a blast recognizing Realife's volunteer leaders. One of the highlights was a human video from Realife's two-headed man, Mary.
