Adam Finally Makes The Blog

Adam said he wanted some "face-time" on the blog. He even went so far as to verbalize his jealousy over my daughters' talents and abilities and their ever-increasing popularity on the web. However, I was forced to overlook that, and go ahead and honor his request when he started juggling pumpkins.

PS - Don't try this at home. Adam is a trained professional.

PSS - After you're impressed with Adam's skills, click on the Gibbons Family link to the right where you will be amazed by the performances of Candice, Kelly Grace, and Bria.

Well, after many requests I finally reached back into the vault to bring out the most viewed entry ever on the site. Once you hear it, you'll know why!

The JRA Thumb-Wrestling Championship

Today's staff chapel was one that I will not soon forget. We opened with a little friendly thumb-wrestling competition. There were approximately 200 people competing for the prestigious first place.

So, who won? Was it one of our strapping, young Master's Commission or Leadership College students? Nope. Was it our robust Senior High Director, Nathan Teegarden who can bench press over 400lbs? Negative. Was it our brawny and very athletic Realife Network Director, Adam DeVizia? He didn't make it to the final four!

Believe it or not, it was my beautiful bride that dominated the physical challenge and won 8 different matches on her way to the title. No one was more surprised, nor more proud of her, than I was. We actually caught the championship round on video. ENJOY!

Psalm 144.1 - Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.

Another Great Night at Realife

A lot is happening around Realife Student Ministries these days. We are one week away from our "Wednesday Night Live" outreach. It's going to be a blast! Most importantly a lot of students will come to know Christ.

We are also in the middle of our missions drive where we are trying to raise $50,000 in 11 weeks. Today's blog features Paul Earwood, a life group leader at realife. He and his wife Ashley are great friends of ours as well as wonderful leaders for our group.

Be encouraged today to let God use you to inspire others! 1 Cor. 11.1

(sorry about the lame video angle!)

Dreaming Big Dreams and Doing Big Things

Wow...what a night! I can't remember a time in over 15yrs of student ministry where there was so much faith and anticipation for what God was going to do. We're in the middle of a missions drive to raise money for children in Africa and we're having a blast!

The students have committed to raise over $50,000 in 11wks. I know that God is going to help us do it. The stories of how God is providing the money are already coming in. I will try to post a few each week and together we can celebrate what God is doing in response to the faith of His children.

God is creative! I love it when people use creative means to share the Gospel with others. That is especially important with student ministry. Hats off to Pastor Eric and the junior high leaders for praying hard and working hard, and then allowing God to do what only He can do!
