One Day at a Time
Furthermore, I think David must have had a similar type procedure based on what he wrote in Psalm 6.2-3 "O Lord, heal me, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in anguish. How long, O Lord, how long?" I've only said that same prayer about 10 times myself (every hour). And David didn't even have Hydrocodone to help him!!!
I not only relate to David's pain in chapter 6, I also connect with his peace in Psalm 3.5 - "I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me".
Isn't that true? About the time you feel like you can't go on or you can't take it anymore God steps in and provides the rest you need or the strength to sustain you. He doesn't promise that you will never struggle...or even that your difficulties will only last one hour or one day. He simply wants you to trust Him to help you...even when (or especially when) times are hardest.
So you can lie down and rest knowing He is with you. Tomorrow is a new day. He will sustain you. Just take it one day at a time.

your back. I live in Nebraska but have visited James River
several times.I listened to the last sermon you preached at James
river on my computer and the Lord spoke to me again to pray earnestly
for you. The fact that He spoke to a complete stranger to pray
for you shows me that you are near to His heart. When I prayed
today I saw the hand of God moving down the whole length of
your spine. May the joy of the Lord be yours as He brings healing.
We have you in our thoughts and prayers often. We are asking
the Lord to give you supernatural healing as you are recovering
from this surgery, that He would give you the grace and his
presence to overcome the pain. We are praying for Casey that
the Lord would fill you with strength that could only come from
Him during this time. That he would give you wisdom as you face
your day and peace as you face the night. We are praying for
Candice that she would be a helper in a time of need and grow in
not only her ability but her understanding during this time. For
Kelly Grace that she would be a peace maker and a bringer of joy.
For Bria that the Lord would give her peace as she sees things
happen that she cannot understand. And for Allison that the Lord
would help her to sleep well at bed time and to be happy when
she is up so that she can light up your day with her smile. We
are so excited to see what God is going to do in you through
this time and in others around you because of you...only in
heaven will we know the full impact.
Love,
The Virnigs
Thanks for being such an amazing leader.
Praying for you!!
Sincerely,
Mikellah
I am sorry that you are still experiencing so much pain. I pray that it will subside ASAP and you will be able to experience a full and speedy recovery from yur surgery! I will also pray for patience as I am sure you are getting tired of laying around, etc. Remember to focus on the small victories as you recover and to rejoice in them. Soon this will all be just a memory! Thank you for being so strong and an encouragement to others despite all of your suffering. God is truly being glorified by your example!
speaking encouragement, even through your pain...as you've
always done!
Continuing to pray for you,
Nancy
Just wanted to let you know that I was thinking about you! You are amazing and I will be praying for you. Cant wait to have you back at realife! miss your preaching! Just wanted to also let you know I just graduated from masters a couple weeks ago and i'm gonna be staying around and still staying connected with realife! Hope you recover fast !
I just wanted to say thank you...it never ceases to be amazing to me how God so often uses us DURING our hard times to encourage others. And this blog entry is definitely a timely encouragement for me. I am also recovering from surgery, though a minor one, and I too have been asking "how long, O Lord??" But I have felt his loving presence and sustaining hand the most strongly at my roughest points. I'm praying that his grace continues to sustain you, as he already evidently has been. Thank you for letting God use you, even through the pain!
Love you guys! :)
I just wanted to tell you what an inspiration you are to my family and I. In the midst of huge struggle and what I imagine to be unbearable pain,
you are not only continuing to live righteously, but encouraging others to do so as well. Your words ring true; God's strength is all we need and
your life is a shining example. I know God will bless you beyond comprehension. I can't wait to have you back at Realife but ours prayers are
with you until then!
